What are the differences between V1 and V2?

Compared with V1, the V2 series has core upgrades in two major dimensions: production mode and material quality. We have moved all production lines of the V2 series to our own in-house factory, completely eliminating outsourcing links. We independently control the entire process from R&D, production, assembly to final packaging and quality inspection, fundamentally ensuring consistent product quality across every batch.

To solve the pain point of limited material choices caused by cost constraints in the V1 series, the V2 series no longer prioritizes material cost, and only focuses on material quality. For example, we replaced the domestic foam used in V1 with higher-cost Sekisui foam, completely solving the long-existing adhesive residue issue of V1, and greatly optimizing the user experience.

WESTLAB V2 Series Universal Dot Mouse Skates Introduction

Slightly Flat Type:

‌Test Data‌: Average maximum friction 0.098, average dynamic friction 0.062
Note: Test data is for reference only. Friction coefficients vary on different mousepads. Tests are conducted on a fine matte thick-coated pad with a 200g test weight, and the values are averaged from multiple runs.

‌Basic Parameters‌:

  • Material: High-purity unidirectional nano-treated fully oriented PTFE + Japan SEKISUI noise-reducing foam

  • Diameter: 6.5mm, base material thickness 0.7mm, total raised thickness approx 0.8mm

  • Thin profile, recommended for glass mousepads and hard mousepads

‌User Experience‌:
This dot is nearly flat but not completely flattened, delivering extremely high initial glide speed on most mousepads. After wear-in, it becomes a flat skate with reduced glide, turning into a neutral-feeling skate. It shows 3 different performances on different pads: ultra-fast speed, strong texture with great control, or smooth glide with minimal texture. It feels smooth with moderate texture, similar to orange dot skates but slightly faster. Machine tests confirm this performance (orange dot average max static friction 0.111, average dynamic friction 0.071). Subjective reviews are for reference only: overall it glides fast on most pads, with a few pads offering more control, landing in the slightly smooth neutral range.

Medium Spherical Type:

Test Data‌: Average maximum friction 0.115, average dynamic friction 0.074
Note: Test data is for reference only. Friction coefficients vary on different mousepads. Tests are conducted on a fine matte thick-coated pad with a 200g test weight, and the values are averaged from multiple runs.

‌Basic Parameters‌:

  • Material: High-purity unidirectional nano-treated fully oriented PTFE + Japan SEKISUI noise-reducing foam

  • Diameter: 6mm, base material thickness 0.7mm, total raised thickness approx 1.1mm, actual usable thickness 0.9~1.1mm

  • Recommended for MID weave cloth pads and glass mousepads, you can stick extra dots for full coverage layouts

‌User Experience‌:
This is a spherical skate. Even though the test friction coefficient looks relatively high, the actual glide speed is not slow at all. The higher test data comes from the small contact area under 200g load, which creates high pressure and fast sliding. The contact area slightly increases at the micro level, raising the friction coefficient slightly. It performs excellently on both MID cloth pads and glass pads, with a small contact area that rarely causes stuck movement. Overall reviews praise its smooth glide, clean stop and minimal stuck movement. Some high-grain pads show noticeable texture at first due to the small contact area.

Small Spherical Type:

‌Test Data‌: Average maximum friction 0.118, average dynamic friction 0.082
Note: Test data is for reference only. Friction coefficients vary on different mousepads. Tests are conducted on a fine matte thick-coated pad with a 200g test weight, and the values are averaged from multiple runs.

‌Basic Parameters‌:

  • Material: High-purity unidirectional nano-treated fully oriented PTFE + Japan SEKISUI noise-reducing foam

  • Diameter: 5mm, base material thickness 0.7mm, total raised thickness approx 1.2mm, actual usable thickness 0.9~1.1mm

  • Recommended for MID weave cloth pads and glass mousepads, you can stick extra dots for full coverage layouts

‌User Experience‌:
This skate shares a similar initial contact area with the medium spherical dot. As it wears in, the contact area grows slowly, and its final contact area after wear is smaller than the medium spherical dot, making it slightly faster with more noticeable texture feedback. It also rarely causes stuck movement, but it is not recommended for use on woven pads, as the tiny contact area can easily sink into the pad surface. Overall reviews praise its clean glide, crisp stop and minimal stuck movement. Some high-grain pads show noticeable texture at first due to the small contact area, and the contact area will not expand much even after long-term wear, as the diameter is only 5mm.
